The U.S. Drought Outlook, released today, predicts more areas of improvement than persistence. Drought improvement or removal is likely across California, Oregon and the Great Basin by the end of March 2016 due to the ongoing strong El Nino and wetter-than-average precipitation predicted during this period.
NOAA forecasters added that drought is expected to develop or persist in Montana, Hawaii, parts of Idaho and Washington.
