Using Satellites to Predict Malaria Risk

Scientists can't see mosquitoes from space, but with the help of NOAA's POES satellites they can detect the environmental conditions mosquitoes find favorable, and use the data to predict -- one to two months ahead of time -- when and where the risk of contracting malaria will be highest in Sub-Saharan Africa.
