Mapping the Shakes: The National Map Corps has finally calculated the results of The Great Shakeout New Madrid Seismic Zone Emergency Facilities Mapping Challenge – with outstanding results. During the week of The Great Shakeout and the Challenge, volunteer citizen scientists added/verified/updated 266 unique points and deleted 57 obsolete points The submissions included 178 schools, 7 ambulance services, 85 fire stations/ems stations, 38 law enforcement, and 15 hospitals. Most of the points went through peer review or were checked by an advanced editor, and are ready to update the structures data in The National Map!
