White Ibis
Even birds love to view wildlife during fall migration! This adult white ibis was observed hanging out next to thePelican Island National Wildlife Refuge's spotting scope at Joe’s Overlook on the Joe Michael Memorial Trail.#MyRefuge #seerefuges #RefugeWeek
Pelican Island, located in Florida, holds a unique place in American history. On March 14, 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt designated it as the Nation's first national wildlife refuge to protect brown pelicans and other native birds nesting on the island.
Pelican Island and its array of birds can be viewed from the refuge's new public facilities located adjacent to the island or by making reservations with one of the local boat tour operators. FREE wildlife tours begin at the refuge on November 5. They will supply binoculars, field guides, spotting scopes and smiles!http://1.usa.gov/1C27gM7
