Our airborne mission UAVSAR (Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar) participated in Norway's Oil on Water oil spill cleanup exercise June 8-11, 2015. Using radar to monitor oil spills in not only useful for telling where oil is present, but UAVSAR is testing if radar can distinguish between different types of oil and its thickness on the water.
