Soon after the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, Cascades Volcano Observatory scientist Richard Waitt began interviewing witnesses to help document the eruption. These interwoven tales of adventure and eruption phenomena were published last week. The new book "In the Path of Destruction, Eyewitness Chronicles of Mount St. Helens," tells the stories surrounding the events of May 18, 1980 in entertaining and educational detail.
