NW PACIFIC OCEAN - Typhoon In-fa Slowly Tracking Through Northwestern Pacific
Typhoon In-fa had maximum sustained winds near 90 knots) 103.6 mph/166.7 kph) on November 23 at 0000 UTC (7 p.m. EST). The typhoon was far from land, and about 751 nautical miles southwest of Iwo To island, Japan. The center was near 1.2 north latitude and 131.7 east longitude.
In-fa was moving to the northwest at 9 knots (10.3 mph/16.6 kph) and generating rough seas with wave heights to 30 feet.
Japan's MTSAT-2 satellite captured this visible image of the typhoon that showed the storm retains good circulation.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecast calls for In-fa to curve to the northeast and weaken as it moves into an area of increasing vertical wind shear. Current forecast tracks take In-fa near Iwo To on Nov. 27 as a tropical storm.
