"In September 1779, Captain John Paul Jones shook the world when his sailors and marines in USS Bonhomme Richard defeated HMS Serapis in a moonlit battle off the coast of England. Early in the battle Bonhomme Richard took a severe beating. When asked by the British captain if he was there to surrender, Jones replied "Surrender?
