True Color Image from NOAA/NASA Suomi NPP

From NOAA Satellite and Information Service:

This true color image from NOAA/NASA Suomi NPP (taken on March 22) shows numerous plumes of smoke from wildfires scattered across the southeastern United States.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a warm and dry air mass over the region has resulted in "critical to extreme fire weather conditions," which include strong, gusty winds and low relative humidity. (Relative humidity refers to the amount of water vapor present in air expressed as a percentage of the amount needed for saturation at the same temperature.)
