Washington Monument During Early Hours of Blizzard 2016

From the U.S. Department of the Interior:

To clear all the roads, walkways and memorial plazas on the National Mall and Memorial Parks in Washington, DC, grounds and maintenance staff will have to remove 8.25 million cubic feet of snow. That amount of snow would fill the interior of the Washington Monument more than 18 times and weigh more than 62,000 tons -- 1.6 times heavier than the entire Lincoln Memorial. Here’s a cool shot of the Washington Monument during the early hours of the blizzard. Photo courtesy of Joseph Gruber. — at National Mall and Memorial Parks.
