As seen in this photo, "microstorms" affecting a small section of the region can produce localized heavy rains and lightning. These systems can fill our washes (or arroyos) and often create beautiful sunsets in the park when there are breaks between the storms.
This week promises similar rain and thunderstorms for Chaco Culture National Historical Park. Just before coming out to visit the park, be sure to call 505-786-7014 (from 8am-5pm) for current road conditions.
