On April 13, 1994, GOES 8 was launched into space

The GOES-8 satellite was launched #OTD in 1994. GOES-8 was the first three-axis stabilized spacecraft, allowing the imager and sounder to work simultaneously. The satellite was decommissioned on May 5, 2004.
