Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT)

From NOAA Satellite and Information Service:

This past week the Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT) program aided in the rescue of 12 lives throughout the United States and its waters including four people saved from a sinking sailboat off the North Carolina coast.

If you explore, fly or sail, a properly registered emergency beacon could help save your life too. To learn more about the SARSAT program visithttp://go.usa.gov/htuJ. Already have a beacon? Make sure it is registered http://go.usa.gov/htJY!

SARSAT, part of the international COSPAS-SARSAT program, has saved 7,525 lives in the United States since 1982. COSPAS-SARSAT has saved more than 35,000 lives worldwide.
