From NASA's Hurricane Web Page:
SOUTHERN INDIAN OCEAN - Tropical cyclone Bohale Weakening Quickly
Strong vertical wind shear is pounding Tropical Cyclone Bohale and it is weakening very quickly.
At 0900 UTC (4 a.m. EST), Bohale was located 592 nautical miles east of Port St. Louis, Mauritius. It was moving to the south at 10 knots and had maximum sustained winds near 35 knots (40 mph/62 kph) and quickly weakening.
Animated enhanced infrared satellite imagery shows thunderstorm development has significantly eroded and has been pushed to the southeast from strong northwesterly vertical wind shear. Bohale has drifted into an area of strong (30-40 knot) vertical wind shear and cooling sea surface temperatures. Bohale is expected to further deteriorate as adverse environmental conditions persist. The cyclone will be reduced to Tropical depression intensity later today.
This image from the MODIS instrument that flies aboard NASA's Aqua satellite shows how wind shear has pushed the bulk of clouds and showers to the southwest on Dec. 11.
