The Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument shows nighttime lights shining over freshly fallen snow from this weekend's Midwest snow storm.

From NOAA Satellite and Information Service:

Baby it's cold outside! The Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument shows nighttime lights shining over freshly fallen snow from this weekend's Midwest snow storm.

This image was taken on November 23, 2015 using the VIIRS instrument's day/night band. The snow is illuminated because of moonlight reflecting off of its surface!
