Klondike Goldrush — There's something amazing about looking at this #TBT photo from 1900 of gentleman and prospectors standing at the White Pass & Yukon Railroad Station in Alaska. The station was a main point for prospectors to head off to the goldfields of Alaska and Yukon which, unbeknownst to them, already had seen most of the good Klondike claims staked out.
The gentleman in white hat is Sidney Paige, a geologist of the USGS who was also exploring the area and inventorying the minerals for the USGS. You can learn more about the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park at http://www.nps.gov/klgo/.
