Saharan Dust Storm

ATLANTIC- Although hurricane season ended on Nov. 30, Saharan dust storms can occur anytime, and one did on Dec. 22 at 9:55 a.m. EST when NASA's Aqua satellite passed overhead and the MODIS instrument aboard it captured this image. Dust was blowing off the Western Sahara toward the Canary Islands!
