Suomi VIIRS Captured Eastern Mediterranean Region Dust Storm

From NOAA Satellite and Information Services:

Suomi VIIRS Captured Eastern Mediterranean Region Dust Storm. September 5, 2015, was a clear day over the countries bordering the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea when the Suomi NPP satellite flew over around 6:33 a.m. EDT. Then, on September 6 around 6:15 a.m. EDT, the satellite's VIIRS instrument captured the beginnings of a dust storm originating in northern Lebanon/southwestern Syria. By Suomi NPP’s pass at 5:55 a.m. EDT on September 7 dust had nearly covered all of Syria, continuing to spread over the next day. After spreading nearly 1,100 miles in only three days, the storm brought dust to Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and Iraq. On September 9 and 10 the storm finally began to dissipate leaving visible dust behind in the atmosphere.
