Mount St. Helens, 35 years ago, Apr 22, 1980

From USGS Volcanoes:

Mount St. Helens, 35 years ago, Apr 22, 1980. Improved weather makes aerial observations possible. New snow was dusted with ash in only one place. Small bursts of steam around noon are the only activity observed. Other steam vents are visible on the eastern part of the summit area. Tiltmeters continue to record changes on the north flank but for the most part, the data are inconclusive. Forty-two earthquakes larger than magnitude 3.0, including five larger than magnitude 4.0, are recorded.
