Today We Celebrate the Birth of our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt | Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Today we celebrate the birth of our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt. His legacy still endures in our country through the 150 National Forests, 51 Federal bird reserves, 4 National game preserves, 5 National Parks, and 18 National Monuments created during his administration.

Ohio & Erie Canal | Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Today in History: On this day in 1837, David Beardsley, Toll Collector on the Ohio & Erie Canal at Cleveland reports that "248 boats, 8 packets, 1792 persons are employed on canal…each boat employs 1 captain, 3 hands, 1 cook and 2 drivers." While the numbers don't seem like much to us today, it changed Ohio and helped settle the nation.

Deer on Hines Hill Road
From Cuyahoga Valley National Park:
There are a few detours in the Park this summer because of road construction, but sometimes a road less-traveled leads to a beautiful surprise. These deer were spotted on Hines Hill Road heading up to Brandywine Falls.
