There are many cities, lakes, streams, counties, parks and other sites named in honor of Meriwether Lewis, including Lewiston, Idaho. But what about Lewiston, Maine? While many people confuse the two, the city in Maine has no connection to Captain Lewis.
Lewiston, Maine is named apparently in honor of Job Lewis, a Boston merchant and former proprietor.
