San Francisco, Calif., July 24, 2013 -- FEMA and Bay Area interns contend in a "Cook-Off" to promote September's National Preparedness month. In the event of an emergency, standard amenities, such as grocery stores and restaurants, may not be readily available. The cook-off serves as a model to show the types of meals that can be created in the absence of electricity and gas. This exercise highlights the step of "get a kit," which includes stocking your home with extra non-perishable foods and a can opener. |
