The third ship of the U.S. Navy to be named in honor of the US state of Missouri, the ship would be christened at her launching by Margaret Truman, daughter of Harry Truman, then a Senator from Missouri. For the site of Japan’s formal surrender on September 2, 1945, Truman chose the USS Missouri, a battleship that had seen considerable action in the Pacific and was named after Truman’s native state. It took three years, but one man used more than one million Lego to recreate the 'USS Missouri.”
