Protecting 1,100 Acres of Land

From USFWS Wildlife & Habitat Conservation:

The citizens of Missouri have even more public land to enjoy then ever before! After mining operations polluted portions of southeast Missouri, we worked with our partners and willing landowners to protect 1,100 acres of land to compensate for the injury caused by the pollution. The land serves as a bridge, connecting Mark Twain National Forest's Bell Mountain Wilderness Area to Goggins Mountain Wild Area, and gives the public permanent access to additional trail and wilderness areas.
